I just got a new laptop, and I’m in the middle of that awkward week-or-so-long process of slowly copying over/reinstalling everything on the new one. Since I don’t have all of the software/libraries needed on this computer yet for the stuff I’m supposed to be working on right now (and the hard drive for the other laptop is out for file-transfer stuff), I spent a very quick 20 minutes doing something Halloween related with the stuff I currently have. (Had there been an actual acapella available, I might’ve tried for something a bit better though)
It’s a really crappy WIP since I loosely threw it together in 20 mins, and it’s more of a really rough draft for a cover I wouldn’t mind doing at some point. But still, I guess this counts as my shitty Halloween contribution for the year. I mean, apart from my other secret spooky Halloween contribution that y’all are gonna be hearing soon enough.
(Also should I give myself a spooky url? I would but I can’t think of a pun. And JerryScary doesn’t work in my accent)
”What If” is so unbearably awful.
To cut out Spinner from a piece of promotional art is one thing, but to cut out his entire character now?
It’s so bad! Holy shit! It will take me a long time to get over this.
I cannot accept what happened. There is no way to salvage the arc now that the entire impetus for the arc to even begin has been cut erased entirely.
The first episode of “What If” was not very good.
It does not make for a good first impression for the rest of the series.
The pacing of the episode was ungodly fast, no time to breathe, just next scene right now go GO GO.
Everything but the people looked good I think. They felt too stiff?
I’ll give it the benefit of the doubt now. Maybe there will be episodes not focused on a single MCU movie so the pacing doesn’t need to go by so fast in order to fit in a condensed version of the movie plot.
We will see.
I really can’t articulate my thoughts as to why but,
Loki was a bad show, really bad.
MHA Season 5 is really crippling the story with the obvious arc rearrangement.
The popular theory is that it’s because of the new movie, and moving My Villain Academia until after the Endeavour Agency will help to build suspense and mystery. The brief scene of Shigaraki in episode 13 I thought did very well in achieving that, giving a brief taste of what to expect and leaving viewers speculating.
Cut to episode 15 though and it feels like instead of being clever with the suspense and mystery building, it’s instead feeling confusing. The conversation betwween Hawks and Dabi regarding Hawks killing(?) Best Jeanist that happened in 14 worked well because it builds off the foundation that Hawks and Dabi are in cahoots established at the start of Season 5.
But compare that to Hawks meeting the Liberation guys who are now associated with the League. The scenes with secret agent Hawks (outside of conversing with Dabi) only work because of the foundation they were built upon but those scenes haven’t happened yet in the anime and so it just feels like an entire arc was erased, for lack of a better term.
What if instead The League of Villains wasn’t shown to be associated with The Liberation Army until later on? Would that have perhaps been more appropriate?Have that brief scene of Shigaraki to tantalize viewers and then stay silent until necessary.
That Shigaraki mystery feels completed ruined now because in episode 15 Toga explicitly mentions Shigaraki will destroy Japan. So obviously Shigaraki must be doing OK.
I think that instead of building suspense and mystery, it’s just creating confusion.
I have so many thoughts on the whole thing but I don’t know how to express them, although I will say I’m worried about how fast MVA will go based on the amount of episodes left because episode 16 is confirmed to be “filler”.
y'all i stan extra energy. it’s an icon, a look.
